AEC was contracted by the Port of Grays Harbor to perform remedial excavation at a former convenience store on Port property that had two leaky USTs. The site had an enhanced biosparge system installed as an interim solution between 1997 and 1999 to remove these contaminants, but after a two-year long test it was deemed to not be a suitable remedy. Contaminants of concern were TPH, Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes. To cleanup the site, AEC decommissioned and removed the USTs, excavated over 5,000 cubic yards of material including significant water management, performed demolition of existing site features, and backfilled then installed a cap to close the project.
